TAP-In (Talent Access Programme for Industy)

TAP-In is designed to assist skilled immigrants with the dilemma of having "No New Zealand experience, no job – no job, no New Zealand experience"; a dilemma that prevents many new Kiwis from entering the workplace, using their expertise, and contributing to the economy. Should you wish to host a contractor, intern, volunteer or off-shore graduate via TAP-In, please contact the Programme Manager.

TAP-In provides fixed-term work for skilled immigrants in their field of expertise, through three to six month paid internships, or volunteer terms of several weeks.  This affords them legitimate and challenging experience in the New Zealand workplace.  This experience exponentially increases their opportunity to access permanent, sustainable and meaningful employment in the longer term.

TAP-In assists internationally trained professionals in non-regulated1 business professions, and the programme’s main areas are IT, banking and finance, HR, engineering, sales and marketing, and logistics, but other industries are also supported.  Applicants need a minimum Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent post-secondary education, have at least three year’s work experience in their field, be able to communicate in business English, and possess a CV. Each applicant undergoes a thorough screening and interviewing process before being accepted for the programme. The threshold for screening is high, and it is the intention that only work ready, skilled immigrants who are committed and eligible to work in New Zealand participate in TAPP.

In doing this, TAP-In also offers Auckland organisations a cost effective way to quickly access a pool of mature, experienced talent thereby addressing workplace HR shortages in the short term.

Internationally qualified and experienced professional contractors, graduates, volunteers and interns diversify an organisation’s labour force, expand its international experience, and add value.  Designed to minimise the recruiting risk in today’s labour market, TAP-In will hopefully lead to continued employment for the immigrant, although there is no obligation on the part of the employer to do this on conclusion of the internship period. Line managers complete a performance review for each programme participant using Sonar6, a full-featured performance management solution, which outlines their performance and future potential.

If you are an organisation or business, and would like to host a contractor, off-shore graduate, volunteer or intern via TAP-In, please contact the Programme Manager.

If you are a skilled immigrant, and would like to be considered for TAP-In, apply here to OMEGA’s programmes.
