Programmes

OMEGA runs three major programmes: the flagship OMEGA Mentoring Programme, the OMEGA Talent Access Programme for Industry; and the New Zealand contribution to the international Cities of Migration programme.

The OMEGA Mentoring Programme is an indepth programme offering career counseling, briefing on New Zealand business expectations and practice, advice on professional branding and individual job search strategy. The programme uses occupation-specific mentoring, matching skilled immigrants with New Zealand business professionals who share similar skills and industry knowledge.

Mentors provide new immigrants with a direct insight to New Zealand business at an industry and role-specific level. They are able to provide safe and immediate feedback around industry and culture specific expectations, behaviours and likely scenarios and provide opportunity for perspective checking in a confidential and professional environment.

While mentors do not commit to finding mentees a job, they are able to direct newly-arrived skilled immigrants to the most appropriate industry networks and associations. Their professional advice and direction is invaluable and goes a long way in assisting with a faster and streamlined journey into relevant employment.

The Mentoring Programme also has significant benefits for mentors. Skilled New Zealand professionals are able to develop leadership capabilities, feedback, problem-solving and coaching skills while advancing cultural competency and gaining insight into international markets and practice.
